Recent mass measurements with the JYFLTRAP double Penning Trap at IGISOL

Where:

26/1-022 at CERN

Penning trap mass spectrometry can probe with high precision one of the fundamental properties of a nucleus, its mass. In the recent years and with the development of the Phase-Imaging Ion-Cyclotron-Resonance technique [1], the JYFLTRAP double Penning trap [2] at the IGISOL facility
in the JYFL Accelerator Laboratory performed mass measurements of more than a 100 atomic masses, including around 40 isomeric states.

The fast and non-chemically selective production methods available at IGISOL offer the access to a broad range of radioactive nuclei in various mass regions of the nuclide chart. Namely, from Q-value determination of rare weak decays close to stability for neutrino physics, to the study of
more exotic neutron-rich nuclei in the 132Sn and rare earth regions for astrophysics and nuclear structure evolution further from stability, or mass measurements close to the N = Z line. This presentation aims at giving an overview of the recent activities at IGISOL, focusing on the latest RFQ technical developments and the physics results from the JYFLTRAP.
